SPEAKER INFORMATION
We are asking each speaker to prepare a presentation lasting approximately 20-25 minutes. We are hoping that the presentations will mix scholarship and personal reflections. Our high-level goal is to demonstrate the impact that Judy and Gary have had on their field and profession. Rather than tell their story directly, we want to ask you to tell your own story and how that story has been impacted by the Olsons and their work. For example, you might:
- Present some of your own scholarship that has a link to the Olsons’ work
- Reflect on professional or academic events that have had an impact on scholarship
- Ponder the history of an idea or domain
- Speculate on where things in our shared field are moving, with reference to the Olsons’ place in that trajectory
While we want the overall day to demonstrate the Olsons’ impact, Gary and Judy should not be the direct focus of the individual presentations. Rather, we hope you will present your own work and perspectives, and where appropriate, show the influence of the Olsons’ work and careers.
We expect the audience to be mostly academic, although potentially coming from a variety of domains.
